The service, set to start on July 15, will make the pics available at nearly the same time they appear on DVD shelves. Usually, Hollywood pics in Japan go to VOD a year after their theatrical bows.
The service will kick off with "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." A full lineup has yet to be announced.
J:Com had 3.2 million subscribers by the end of April, up 17% on the year before.
It had a total 5.7 million subs for its cable TV, high-speed Internet and telephone services, up 17.5% on the previous year.
