'Ribbon' tied to six more territories

French sales companies add to Cannes deals

Buyers for Michael Haneke's 'The White Ribbon' included United Kingdom's Articifial Eye and Spain's Golem.

CANNES — Les Films du Losange has sold Michael Haneke's "The White Ribbon" to six additional territories.

Buyers included the U.K.'s Artificial Eye, Spain's Golem, Greece's Rosebud and Taiwan's Swallow Wing.

U.S. rights for the Cannes competish film were picked up by Sony Pictures Classic earlier this week.

Les Films du Losange also closed deals for Un Certain Regard screener "The Father of My Children," directed by emerging French helmer Mia Hansen Love. Pic was nabbed by U.K.'s Artificial Eye, Farb Films for Germany and Austria, Italy's Teodora and Switzerland's Frenetic. Shingle is in talks with buyers from Canada, Spain and the U.S.

Other French sales companies also have racked up deals on the Croisette.

Pyramide Distribution has sold Emmanuel Mouret's comedy "Please, Please Me" (Fais moi plaisir) to Spain's Golem, Italy's Archibald Enterprise Film, Belgium's Les Films de l'Elysee, Canada's K Films and Taiwan's Flash Forward Entertainment.

Another Pyramide title, Kristin Scott Thomas starrer "Partir," was nabbed by Spain's Golem, U.K.'s Metrodome, Australia's Rialto and Cineplex for Latin America.

Bac Films has inked a series of sales for animated film "Round Da Way," which screened as part of Cannes' Critics Week. Toon, which features French thesp Vincent Cassel's voice and De La Soul's tunes, sold to multiple territories, including Brazil's Europafilmes and Benelux's Les Films de l'Elysee.

Bac's two other toons also attracted buyers.

Eckhart Fingberg's "Jasper: Journey to the End of the World," based on a popular TV toon series, was picked up by Brazil's EuropaFilmes, Benelux's Melimedias, and Intersonic for Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Danish animated film "Journey to Saturn" was nabbed by Benelux's Melimedias and China's Melting Culture.
