Helmer Kevin MacDonald's "Eagle of the Ninth" is landing at distribs all over the world.
Project, which is being sold by Focus Features Intl., has been acquired by buyers in every major territory worldwide with the exception of Japan.
Some of the bigger deals inked include France's Metropolitan, Germany's Telemunchen and Bim in Italy. Pic will be distributed by Focus Features domestically and Universal in the U.K., Spain, Australia and Latin America.
The story is about a wounded Roman soldier and his loyal Celtic slave who try to solve the mystery of the Ninth Legion, a brigade of Roman soldiers that vanished after heading into the untamed Highlands of Scotland 15 years earlier.
Duncan Kenworthy is producing through his Toledo Prods. banner. Financing will come through the Focus deal and equity funding from Film 4, which will get U.K. broadcasting rights as part of its deal.
"In this very strange Cannes, we're almost embarrassed to have done so well with this project," said Focus Features Intl. co-topper Alison Thompson. "We're happy to report the pre-sales business is alive and kicking."
