Jet Li stars as a general in historical actioner 'Warlords.'
Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to historical actioner "Warlords," starring Jet Li and Andy Lau, and will release it in the late summer.
"Warlords" is set amid the upheaval during the Taiping Rebellion of the 1860s, with Li starring as a general who survives a massacre of his fellow soldiers by playing dead and joins a band of bandits.
The pic was a hit in China, winning eight Hong Kong Film Awards, including director for Peter Chan and actor for Li.
Magnolia's recent domestic acquisitions include "District 13 -- Ultimatum" and John Woo's historical epic "Red Cliff."
