Film Independent has set Disney's animated "Ponyo" as the closing night feature on June 28 for the Los Angeles Film Festival.
The org announced Monday that Louie Psihoyos' dolphin slaughter docu "The Cove" and Rebecca Cammisa's "Which Way Home" will be a part of the free screenings section.
Hayao Miyazaki's "Ponyo," inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid," features the voices of Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin, Betty White and Frankie Jonas. The movie opens Aug. 14.
The festival opens June 18 and includes 70 features, 70 shorts, and 50 musicvideos. Michael Mann's "Public Enemies" will show June 23 as the fest's Centerpiece Screening.
