The Canadian facility will focus on producing short films, direct-to-DVD pics, TV series and toons for theme parks that feature the company's "legacy characters" like "Toy Story's" Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
Site will hire up to 100 people. Pixar's Emeryville headquarters has a staff of 900.
Tax incentives helped lure Pixar to Vancouver, as did British Columbia's proximity to California.
Pixar animator Dylan Brown, supervising animator on "Ratatouille" and "Finding Nemo," will serve as creative director of the facility.
