"Heaven," directed by the Oliver Hirschbiegel ("Downfall") and written by Guy Hibbert, tracks the lives of two men from the same town in Northern Ireland but on different sides of the Irish political divide. The pic premiered at Sundance and won the World Cinema Screenwriting Award for Hibbert and the World Cinema Director Award for Hirschbiegel.
IFC will release "Heaven" in August through its IFC in Theaters platform, which matches the theatrical opening with an on demand debut. It will also release the pic through its deal with Blockbuster, which includes availability through Blockbuster's stores, by mail subscription services and digital downloading services.
The pic is a Pathe, BBC and Northern Ireland Screen presentation, with the participation of the Scannán Na Héireann/Irish Film Board. It's a Big Fish Films/Ruby Films production in association with Element Pictures.
