Fest, which unspools June 17-18, will open with Sam Mendes’ “Away We Go” and close with Max Meyer’s “Adam.”
Staying true to its idiosyncratic traditions, the program mixes low-budget experimental filmmaking such as Jonathan aud der Heide’s “Van Diemen’s Land” with higher profile fare such as Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker.”
Fest boasts a strong British contingent, including Andrea Arnold’s “Fish Tank,” Duncan Ward’s “Boogie Woogie” and Duncan Jones’ “Moon,” all competing for the U.K. Film Council sponsored Michael Powell Award for British feature.
The new international feature competish includes Noah Buschel’s “The Missing Person,” Sarah Watt’s “My Year Without Sex” and Max Francos’ “Nakba.”
Darren Aronofsky, Brenda Blethyn, Bill Forsyth and Joe Dante will be in town to give master classes.
