Magnolia Pictures picks up 'Eclipse'

Deal on the heels of world premiere at Tribeca

Magnolia Pictures has acquired world rights to writer/director Conor McPherson's drama "The Eclipse," on the heels of its world premiere at Tribeca.

Magnolia announced the deal Friday, a day after Ciaran Hinds won the fest's actor in a narrative feature for  "The Eclipse." Pic's produced by Rob Walpole and Rebecca O'Flanagan of Treasure Entertainment and also stars Iben Hjejle ("Defiance") and Aidan Quinn.

McPherson's the author of the plays "The Weir" and "The Seafarer."

Story's set during a literary festival in an Irish seaside town and centers on a recent widower trying to adjust to his role as the sole caretaker of his two young children, while finding himself increasingly haunted by nightmares that are starting to spill into his waking hours.
