Tony Taccone ("Bridge and Tunnel") directs "Drinking," which centers on Fisher's reminiscences of her life in Hollywood.
Since it preemed at the Geffen Theater in Los Angeles in 2006, the show has played a series of regional nonprofits including Berkeley Rep (where Taccone is a.d.), Boston's Huntington Theater and Seattle Rep, the production's current stop.
In Gotham, Roundabout presents "Drinking" in association with Jonathan Reinis ("Kiki and Herb: Alive on Broadway"), Jamie Cesa ("Naked Boys Singing"), Eva Price and Berkeley Rep.
In a tough financial time for legit nonprofits, the one-actor production "Drinking" has the advantage of being a low-cost offering toplined by a well-known performer. Show has sold well in prior runs, including the stint at Berkeley Rep, where "Drinking" broke a box office record.
Production begins Gotham previews Sept. 22 ahead of an Oct. 4 opening, with the limited run skedded to end Jan. 3. Alexander V. Nichols designs sets, lights and projections.
