Streep, long considered among Hollywood's most accomplished actresses, will hold an onstage conversation about her stellar career.
Previous recipients of the top nod given by the Eternal City extravaganza, which is centered around the thesping profession, include Sean Connery and Al Pacino.
Forman will head a six-member jury panel, which also comprises Gabriele Muccino, the Italo helmer active in Hollywood, and Italo star architect Gae Aulenti.
The Rome fest is headed by former Venice topper Gian Luigi Rondi, with journo Piera Detassis as artistic director, and critic Mario Sesti in charge of the cutting-edge Extra section and of special events, such as Streep's on-stage interview. While Rome has been hard-hit by Italian political turbulence and a resulting budget cut, the fest is clearly aiming to keep a high profile.
The event's fourth edition runs Oct. 15-23.
