HOLLYWOOD -- Mary Matalin is heading back to CNN as a political commentator.

Cable news net said Thursday that Matalin will appear as a Republican analyst on a range of CNN programs, including "360 With Anderson Cooper," "State of the Union With John King" and "The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer." On "State of the Union," she'll appear alongside her husband, longtime Democratic strategist James Carville.

Matalin previously worked for CNN as a co-host of politico roundtable program "Crossfire" in 1999-2000. Well known as a media personality, Matalin served as a top strategist on the 1988, 2000 and 2004 Republican presidential campaigns. She worked in the first Bush administration as a special assistant to the president and in the second Bush administration as a counsel to Vice President Dick Cheney.
