Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Madden was an actor early in his career before he turned to directing.
His first feature and most well known film was "Hell's Angels '69" for AIP, which starred actual Oakland Hell's Angels, including Sonny Barger, president of the Hell's Angels at that time.
Among his other feature directing credits were horror film "The Night God Screamed," starring Jeanne Crain, "Angel Unchained," a biker remake of "The Magnificent Seven," starring Tyne Daly and Don Stroud, and "Night Creature," starring Donald Pleasence; he also wrote and produced the latter two films.
Madden also directed episodes of TV series including "Cade's County," starring Glenn Ford, "Bearcats," starring Rod Taylor, and "The Most Deadly Game," starring Ralph Bellamy.
He also made industrial films and TV commercials, principally for automobile companies, through his company, Lee Madden Associates.
He is survived by daughter, Geraldine, and son David, exec VP of Fox Television Studios.
