German iTunes adds feature films

Store offers pics from studios and indies

By ED MEZA

BERLIN — Apple has begun rolling out feature films on its German iTunes Store.

The move, which had been expected for some time, allows German customers to download pics from major studios and independents, including titles from Paramount, Warner Bros., MGM, Disney, Sony and local indies Universum Film and Shorts Intl.

Among the titles currently available to local users are "The Dark Knight," "Quantum of Solace," "Pineapple Express," "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," "Eagle Eye" and local productions such as "The Counterfeiters" and "Keinohrhasen" (Rabbit Without Ears).

Conspicuously missing from the iTunes store is product from Universal.

An Apple spokesman declined to comment on why U had not boarded the German platform.

Additional local players are expected to join iTunes but Apple also declined to comment on any negotiations with any potential new distribution partners.

iTunes has offered local and international TV series since last year, including shows from ABC Studios and MTV Networks as well as local providers ZDF Enterprises, ProSiebenSat.1 and RTL.
