Overture Films will market and distribute 2009 Sundance winner "Paper Heart," a hybrid documentary-scripted comedy starring Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera.
"Heart" opens Aug. 7 in New York and L.A. before expanding Aug. 14.
Yi co-wrote the film with Nicholas Jasenovec, who directed. Duo won the Waldo Salt Award for screenplay at Sundance earlier this year.
"Heart" follows Yi as she embarks across America to film a docu about love. Cera becomes the object of her affection along the way. Both actors play characters based on themselves.
Yi's acting credits include "Knocked Up."
Film's producers are Sandra Murillo and Elise Salomon. Jasenovec and Yi exec produced, while Yi and Cera composed the movie's musical score.
Overture sister company Anchor Bay was an original financier on "Paper Heart." Anchor Bay has homevid distribution rights in North America, Australia and the U.K.
