ABC Family makes summer plans

Slate includes a trio of new series

ABC Family rolled out its summer primetime sked to advertisers in Gotham on Tuesday, showcasing returning hits including "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" while fleshing out the details on three new scripted series.

First of the new skeins to premiere will be "Make It or Break It," a scripted drama set in the world of competitive gymnastics. Set to bow June 22 at 9 p.m., hourlong stars Chelsea Hobbs ("Lords of Dogtown") stars as a newcomer to the competitive circuit.

Premiering July 7 at 8 p.m., "10 Things I Hate About You" is a high school-set half-hour written and exec produced by Carter Covington ("Greek") and starring Lindsay Shaw and Meaghan Jette Martin. Gil Junger, helmer of the 1999 feature pic of the same name, directed the pilot.

Half-hour multicam laffer "Ruby and the Rockits" will star David Cassidy as a former teen idol who strikes up a new band with his family. His brother Shaun Cassidy exec produces, along with Marsh McCall ("Carpoolers"). Skein bows July 21 at 8:30.

All three series will receive a promotional boost from the return of ABC Family's phenom drama "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," which returns with fresh segs June 22 at 8 p.m. Also, drama "Lincoln Heights" will bow its fourth season Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 9 p.m., while the third season of "Greek" will premiere Monday, Sept. 14, at 8.
