Beverly Hills Barbie turned Harvard Law student Elle Woods and her chihuahua Bruiser will breeze into London later this year, when the musical adaptation of "Legally Blonde" hits the Savoy Theater.

While no official announcement has been made, previews are believed to kick off Dec. 5 on the West End transfer of Jerry Mitchell's production, which initially is booking through May 23. Sonia Friedman is among lead producers on the show.

Written by Heather Hach with music and lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe, the tuner is based on the hit 2001 Reese Witherspoon pic. No casting has been confirmed, but Olivier winner Sheridan Smith ("Little Shop of Horrors") is understood to be touching up her roots to play Elle.

While it closed on Broadway last fall without recouping, "Legally Blonde" has been a strong new entry on the road in its North American tour this season, with brand recognition boosted by an MTV reality-show casting series.
