Will Ferrell's satiric takedown of George W. Bush, "You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush" was deemed a special theatrical event. It could potentially have been considered a new play, although that had seemed unlikely.
Angela Lansbury, one of the top-billed stars in the revival of "Blithe Spirit," will be considered a featured actress for her turn in the supporting role of eccentric psychic Madame Arcati, while "Hedda Gabler" castmates Michael Cerveris, Paul Sparks and Peter Stormare will all be eligible for a featured actor slot.
Short-lived Broadway tuner "The Story of My Life," which played just five perfs following its February opening, is ineligible for the Tonys because its run was so brief.
Admin committee will meet one more time at the end of the season to decide the eligibility of the final rush of spring offerings. Season cutoff is April 30.
Tony Awards are skedded for June 7.
