The deal follows a similar joint venture between MirriAd and Endemol India.
Pact allows Endemol to sell MirriAd’s product-placement opportunities to third-party broadcasters and content owners, as well as allows Endemol Spain to expand its branded entertainment to include online video. Endemol will be able to maximize its product-placement revenue streams and monetize its Web community portal Portalmix.
“These deals with Endemol further establish product and brand placement as a new and complementary way for broadcasters and content owners to extract value from existing and new assets,” said MirriAd chief exec Mark Popkiewicz.
Product placement is an increasingly important revenue stream for media companies, particularly in light of the drop in traditional advertising coin following the global economic recession.
The European Union recently relaxed advertising regulations, which means that local webs may use product placement if their countries approve the option. However, it continues to be banned in the U.K.
