Pact with Paramount gives FX the TV premiere rights to DWA titles released through 2012, including 'Monsters vs. Aliens.'
FX has inked a deal with Paramount Pictures for the TV premiere rights to DreamWorks Animation titles released through 2012.
Under the pact, FX will be the first non-pay TV network to run box office hits including "Monsters vs. Aliens," "Kung Fu Panda" and "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," as well as the upcoming sequel to "Kung Fu Panda" and the latest in the "Shrek" series.
FX has been among the most aggressive purchasers of feature films recently, last year inking a 15-pic, $100 million deal with NBC Universal that gave it the after-pay-TV rights to movies including "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."
FX also pacted with Marvel Studios in 2008 to acquire TV rights to "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk" and five other films.
Announcement of the Par/DWA pact comes after the $58 million-plus opening weekend of "Monsters vs. Aliens."
