'Crash'
CANNES -- Lionsgate has sold "Crash," "The Guard" and "Fear Itself" to Gallic telco giant France Telecom-Orange for its Orange Cinema Series.
The startup French premium pay TV service will also air U.S. series "Life on Mars," acquired from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.
A 13-episode TV series expansion on the 2005 Oscar-winning movie, "Crash" will bow around December on OCS, said Guilhaume Jouhet, OCS deputy director general.
Produced by Halifax Film and Brightlight Pics, "The Guard," an action-drama series that follows the members of a Coast Guard search and rescue team, is sold by Lionsgate.
"Fear Itself," the 13-seg horror anthology produced by Lionsgate and Industry Entertainment, will air on OCS's genre channel Cine Choc, "Life on Mars" will play on Cine Max.
Launched Nov. 13, Orange Cinema Series, a five-channel premium pay TV bouquet, is offered on FT-Orange's satellite TV operation and its ADSL TV offer.
OCS can be viewed via IPTV and satellite on TV, PCs and cell phones.
OCS and Orange Foot, FT-Orange's soccer service, ran up a combined total 300,000 subscribers by late February, mostly on FT-Orange's IPTV service.
