Mark Christiansen, this year's recipient of Inter-Society's Ken Mason Award, literally grew up in the industry. In his Sacramento, Calif., hometown, his father managed a drive-in.
As VP of operations at Paramount, the younger Christiansen provided the crucial digital cinema support to exhibitors through VPFs (virtual print fees). Earlier, he helped DreamWorks become the first to support the cyan track initiative. He also was an executive at MGM/UA.
"I'm particularly happy the society has recognized distributors' excellence in film presentation," Christiansen says regarding his award.
