He will act as an adviser to the newly combined businesses of SPT and 2waytraffic in Blighty, helping to beef up the production slate and identify and hire executive talent.
"Peter's appointment is a key first step towards building a creative powerhouse in the U. K. that will be driven by a talented and an ambitious new team," said SPT prexy of international production Kees Abrahams.
Bazalgette, also an advisor to Sony Music's TV division, was chief creative officer at Endemol from 2004-7, where he brought "Big Brother" to the U.K.
Before that he was one of the U.K.'s most successful indie producers, pioneering lifestyle shows including "Ready Steady Cook" and "Changing Rooms."
A broadcaster and writer in his own right, Bazalgette is deputy chairman of the National Film and Television School and sits on the board of the English National Opera.
In the U.K. SPT produces "Hex" for Sky One, "Demons" for ITV, and "Sofia's Diary," for social networking site Bebo.
2waytraffic's best-known format in the U.K is "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"
