The program is provisionally entitled "Animal Autopsy" and will be made in co-operation with the U.K.'s Royal Veterinary College.
The four-parter shows an elephant, a giraffe, a crocodile and a whale being cut up.
Each dissection is handled by an expert in the species while eminent biologist Richard Dawkins explains what the animals' different anatomies reveal about evolution.
Other highlights of C4's spring and summer season include actress Samantha Morton's directing debut, "The Unloved," a gritty depiction of a child's view of the U.K. child care system, starring Robert Carlyle; and biopic "Mo" starring Julie Walters as the late and much-loved British politician Mo Mowlam.
