Tribeca fills All Access slate

Festival offshoot gives limelight to filmmakers

NEW YORK -- Tribeca has set 27 projects and 24 filmmakers to be part of fest-within-a-fest Tribeca All Access.

The sixth annual event, set for April 20-25, helps foster filmmaking voices from communities not typically represented in showbiz. Tyro directors and screenwriters get to network with development execs, producers and potential investors, all while competing for prize money thanks to financial support from Bloomberg.

This year's jury for Tribeca All Access includes Viola Davis, Sanaa Lathan, Luis Guzman and Fenton Bailey. They will award $55,000 in total coin.

Success stories are starting to mount for the fest offshoot. One is "Amreeka," helmed by TAA alum Cherien Dabis, which preemed at Sundance and scored a pickup from National Geographic and a berth in the New Directors/New Films fest at Lincoln Center.
