Bynes will play Sarabeth, a naive Midwesterner who's being exploited by her boss - and doesn't realize it.
"Canned" revolves around a group of friends who are all fired on the same day. Kevin Etten created the show and exec produces, while David Rosenthal and Peter Traugott are also EPs.
ABC Studios and Brillstein Ent. Partners are behind the comedy project.
Bynes' feature credits include "Hairspray," "She's the Man," "Big Fat Liar" and "What a Girl Wants." On TV, she starred in the Nickelodeon series "All That" and "The Amanda Show," in addition to "What I Like About You" for the WB. She also appeared in the Lifetime telepic "Living Proof."
She joins a cast that also includes Tim Peper, Stephanie Lemelin and Baron Vaughn.
