"Wicked" composer Stephen Schwartz has been elected as the prexy of the Dramatists Guild, the trade association for playwrights.

Schwartz heads an entirely new slate of officers made up of fellow org members Peter Parnell ("The Cider House Rules") as VP, Doug Wright ("I Am My Own Wife") as secretary and Theresa Rebeck ("Mauritius") as treasurer.

Schwartz takes over as prexy from John Weidman ("Assassins"), who has served as prexy for 10 years (five two-year terms). Also stepping down are VP Marsha Norman ("'Night, Mother"), secretary David Ives and treasurer Jonathan Reynolds.

There are no term limits for officers, according to a rep for the guild. The quartet was elected in a meeting of the Guild's Council, after Weidman and his team decided to step down.
