It has also closed with two other major arthouse distributors in Europe: Poland's Gutek and Atalanta Filmes in Portugal.
Building on major territory deals already struck for now much of the world, the sales prove that there is still a solid international market for breakout art films, even without a name director or international star cast.
"Seraphine" took seven Cesars -- France's equivalent of the Oscars -- at last month's kudosfest, including film, original sceenplay (from director Martin Provost) and actress (Yolande Moreau).
The Cesars can be influential, according to Roissy international sales exec Yohann Comte, for sales companies to close with distributors who are still hesitating and attract others who had previously rejected a film as too small or not a good fit for their lineup.
