Paradox Entertainment has acquired screen rights to "Chariots of the Gods," Erich von Daniken's 1968 bestselling book that pressed the case that Earth was visited by aliens.

The premise will be turned into a science fiction film that will be produced by Paradox's Fredrik Malmberg and Amber Entertainment's Mark Ordesky.

The book explores evidence that different civilizations were visited by extraterrestrials.

The book has sold 68 million copies worldwide and has been published in 32 languages. It also spawned a 1974 documentary.

Paradox controls the Robert E. Howard estate and is developing a movie version of "Conan" with Millennium Films. Ordesky was the New Line executive who shepherded production of all three "Lord of the Rings" films.
