"Impressionism" will take a little longer to make an impression on critics: The Broadway play has postponed its opening night, previously skedded for March 12, until March 24.
Date has been pushed back to allow creatives more time to refine the production.
" 'Impressionism' is a world premiere on Broadway, which has not been workshopped or played out of town," said producer Bill Haber. "We are working hard in previews and we need more time to get the show finished for the official opening."
The March 9 preview perf has been cancelled to allow for more rehearsal.
Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen topline the show, written by Michael Jacobs and helmed by Jack O'Brien ("The Coast of Utopia," "Hairspray"). Plot centers on a relationship between a photojournalist and a Gotham gallery owner.
"Impressionism" began previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater Feb. 28.
