'Electra' to end run on March 1

Off Broadway revival closes early

The Off Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's "Mourning Becomes Electra" will call it quits early, shuttering March 1 instead of its originally posted closing date of April 18.

Toplined by Lili Taylor and Jena Malone, "Electra" was one of two offerings to get a smack-down by legit critics last week. The other, the small-scale Rialto tuner "The Story of My Life," threw in the towel Sunday.

The four-hour-plus "Electra" was a high-profile offering from Gotham nonprofit The New Group, who a.d., Scott Elliot, helmed the production.

The nonprofit's final show of the season has yet to be announced.
