Walsh a ratings winner for ABC

Fox's 'Dollhouse' falls to 'Grey's,' 'Private'

'Grey's Anatomy'

ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' posted its best numbers in three months among the 19-49 crowd, thanks to an episode that featured Kate Walsh.

Fox's new Friday-night lineup was wobbly in its second outing, while on Thursday, ABC continued to reap the dividends of having Kate Walsh do double duty on "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice."

Fox's 9 p.m. frosh drama "Dollhouse" eased from its opening to a 1.7 rating/5 share in the adults 18-49 demo, according to prelim Nielsens, down from last week's opening score of 2.0/6. "Dollhouse" did improve on its 8 p.m. lead-in, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (1.3/5 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall), which continues to underwhelm in its new slot.

CBS and ABC tied for the Friday night win in the demo (1.7/5), with ABC's 10 p.m. newsmag "20/20" (2.0/6) making a good showing for the second week in a row.

On Thursday, ABC had 18-49 bragging rights as 9 p.m. anchor "Grey's Anatomy" (5.9/15, 15.6 million viewers) posted its best demo numbers in three months with an episode that featured Walsh's Addison Montgomery character in a patient drama at Seattle Grace. At 10 p.m., Walsh-toplined "Private Practice" (4.4/12, 11.2 million viewers) posted a solid demo score, though nowhere near as strong as the previous week's number (5.7/15), in which "Practice" had a direct storyline crossover with "Grey's Anatomy."

ABC took the Thursday crown in 18-49 (ABC's 4.2/11 to CBS' 3.9/10), but the Eye had a comfortable lead in viewers (CBS' 13.9 million to ABC's 11.5 million).
