Tennessee rockers Kings of Leon left the U.K. music industry bash grasping a brace of awards for international album and international group.
Hosted by singer Kylie Minogue and comedians Mathew Horne and James Corden, the annual event was held at London’s Earls Court. U2 opened the show — broadcast live by terrestrial network ITV — with a performance of new single "Get on Your Boots."
Veteran rockers Iron Maiden celebrated their first Brit nomination by collecting the live act trophy, while Elbow added a British group nod to its collection, having picked up the Mercury Music Prize last year.
Kanye West and Katy Perry made it a clean sweep for American acts in the international categories, while the award for British single, chosen by a live public vote during the airing of the show, was won by Girls Aloud.
Performing on the kudocast were British acts Girls Aloud, Coldplay, Take That, the Ting Tings and Estelle, while Kings of Leon made up the overseas collective along with fellow Americans Lady GaGa and the Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers, who both made guest appearances with contribution to music winners Pet Shop Boys.
