LONDON — Twentieth Century Fox Television in Europe has tapped Sky One acquisitions topper David Smyth as its VP of sales.
The move, which comes as Sky One controller Richard Woolfe prepares to leave to run Five’s programming division, means that Smyth will oversee sales of movies and TV shows to European webs.
He will also be responsible for expanding Fox’s initiatives in co-production.
Smyth, who will report to Yoni Cohen, senior VP of international development and sales, has helped Sky, the flagship entertainment channel of satcaster BSkyB, build up an impressive portfolio of U.S. shows.
These include “Lost,” poached from rival U.K. web Channel 4, “Prison Break,” “Eureka” and “Weeds.”
Smyth has worked at BSkyB for eight years.
