Jackie Chan’s latest chopsocky outing, “Shinjuku Incident,” won’t be released in mainland China because it’s too violent, Hong Kong helmer Derek Yee said.

The mainland is an increasingly important market for Hong Kong pics but Yee said “Shinjuku Incident” would not pass censors, who, in the absence of a film ratings system, only approve pics deemed appropriate for all viewers.

Yee decided not to cut the $25 million movie, a decision backed by Chan. It will open in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia on April 2.
