Comedy Central's "Important Things With Demetri Martin" premiered Wednesday to 2.4 million viewers, making it the cabler's best series bow since "Chappelle's Show" drew 2.5 million viewers in 2003.
"Important Things," which stars bone-dry, chart-sketching comic Martin and is produced by Jon Stewart's Busboy Prods., drew 1.5 million viewers 18-49.
Series outranked "American Idol" in the men 18-34 demo, garnering 1 million viewers in that group.
