'Friday the 13th' premieres in L.A.

Michael Bay, Marcus Nispel attend event

HOLLYWOOD -- Forget Botox. Industry folks found another way to feel young: attending the "Friday the 13th" premiere Monday at the Grauman's Chinese Theater.

"The appeal of making these films is it reminds me of when I was a 12- year-old kid going to a Saturday afternoon show of horror films just like this one," said producer Michael Bay.

The pic is a reboot of the famous slasher series that made Jason, the hockey mask wearing bogeyman, a household name.

Helmer Marcus Nispel said he wanted to make sure he respected the old film while bringing something new to this one.

"I owe it to the audience to add something different to this film that sets it apart from the previous films," he said, adding that he enjoyed watching the crowd react. "The great thing about horror movies is you get to watch as an entire audience at the Grauman jumps out of their seats because of your work."
