'Juno' director Jason Reitman DJs as one-half of Bad Meaning Bad.
A reformed New York Dolls played the Avalon Saturday night as part of a pre-Grammy benefit for volunteer/community service organization
L.A. Works with sponsorship from MTV Games, Los Angeles magazine, Von Zipper sunglasses and the Dolls' current home, Rhino Records.
Although the Dolls are down to two original members -- frontman David Johansen, 59, and guitarist Sylvain Sylvain, 57 - the five-piece group's performance gave no suggestion that their first show was 38 years ago.
Opening the show was a DJ set from Bad Meaning Bad, a duo comprised of "Juno" director Jason Reitman and the film's composer, Mateo Messina. The next night, Messina became a Grammy winner for his work on the "Juno" soundtrack, which won Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
Other rock stars in attendance included Urge Overkill and Jane's Addiction founder/"Entourage" theme-song composer Perry Farrell.
