Nutter also recently inked a three-year renewal of his overall production pact with Warner Bros. TV. Most recently, Nutter helmed the pilot of WBTV and CBS' frosh sensation "The Mentalist."
Given his batting average, Nutter has no shortage of pilot offers at this time of year. "Eastwick," about three women who discover they have supernatural powers after a mysterious man arrives in their small town, appealed to him because of the strength of the concept that scribe-exec producer Maggie Friedman has developed for the series. (The 1987 film was based on the novel by John Updike.)
"She has come up with an amazing starting-off point -- I can really see where the series is going to go," Nutter told Daily Variety. "She's got a great bedrock of characters and a great mystery."
Nutter's pilot tally in recent years includes Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," WB/CW's "Supernatural," WB's "Jack and Bobby" and CBS' "Without a Trace." He's also one of the helmers on HBO's upcoming WWII epic "The Pacific."
Outside of his WBTV deal, Nutter is working with producer Barry Waldman to set up a feature based on the life of Lance Mackey, who overcame throat cancer to become a winner of the Iditarod Alaskan dog sled race in 2007 and 2008.
Nutter is repped by Endeavor.
