“Walk the Line” helmer James Mangold is attached to direct an untitled legal thriller for L.A.-based production and finance shingle Bold Films.

Mangold’s wife, Cathy Konrad, is producing through their Treeline Films banner.

The script, which is being penned by Sasha Jenson and Casey La Scala, is based on the true story of a pair of New Orleans lawyer brothers who took on a multinational oil company and its heavyweight legal teams to rep the rights of the families of an oil rig that sank in a typhoon.

Bold Films’ Michel Litvak and David Lancaster also will produce. Gary Michael Walters and scribe La Scala are exec producing.

Bold has supernatural 3-D thriller “The Hole,” directed by Joe Dante; other upcoming features include the thriller “Jack,” to be directed by Joseph Ruben, Phillip Noyce project “Above Suspicion,” and the comedy “Opposites Attract,” director Jay Chandrasekhar.

Mangold, who last helmed the Western “3:10 to Yuma,” hasn’t directed a thriller since 2003’s “Identity.”

He is repped by CAA and Management 360.
