“Ozie Boo! The Movie” will be produced by Cyber Group Animation, the series’ creators. Cyber will also handle international sales. The feature film turns once more on the instructive adventures of five baby penguin friends.
A eco-pic, “Ozie Boo!’s” movie version kicks off with the young penguins being separated when their ice-flow splits in half. They then meet a mammoth, awakened from deep freeze by climate change.
The first “Ozie Boo!” short format CG series has sold to 150 territories, winning the 2008 French Animation Export Award from export board TV France Intl.
Sales include Disney Channel pick-ups for Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan and most of Latin America. V-Me has taken U.S. Spanish-language rights.
The original series has generated a Christmas Special, which is in production, and edutainment skein “Ozie Boo! Save the Planet,” which is in development.
“Movie” is skedded for release Christmas 2010 in France, Cyber international sales head Carole Brin said Wednesday at Madrid’s Le Rendez-Vous, an annual mart for Gallic TV shows organized by TVFI, where “Ozie Boo!” was one of this year’s main toon attractions.
