Chinese helmer Zhang Yimou, who directed the Beijing Olympics' opening and closing ceremonies, will organize the 60th anniversary party to celebrate the foundation of Communist China on Oct. 1.

He will collaborate with Zhang Jigang, one of the vice directors of the Olympic ceremonies and a member of China's elite army arts troupe, the China Daily reported on Friday.

The show will include a military parade along Beijing's main drag, the Avenue of Long-Lasting Peace, which will be reinforced and widened to take the strain of heavy military hardware.

Zhang's work was formerly banned in China, but the 57-year-old helmer's movies have taken a more patriotic direction of late and he is very much back in favor.
