Pics include Hermine Huntgeburth's "Effi Briest," Florian Gallenberger's World War II drama "John Rabe" and Kai Wessel's biopic "Hilde."
The 78-year-old Chabrol will be in town with "Bellamy," starring Gerard Depardieu, while Oliveira, who turned 100 last month, will present "Eccentricities of a Blonde-Haired Girl."
An adaptation of the classic 19th-century Theodor Fontane novel "Effi Briest" stars Julia Jentsch ("Sophie Scholl: The Final Days") and Sebastian Koch ("The Lives of Others").
"John Rabe" tells the story of a German industrialist who saved thousands of Chinese during the Japanese invasion of Nanjing. Pic stars Daniel Bruehl, Steve Buscemi and Ulrich Tukur. In "Hilde," Heike Makatsch stars as late German star Hildegard Knef.
Also playing are "In Berlin," a documentary by Michael Ballhaus and Ciro Cappellari; Paul Schrader's "Adam Resurrected"; and Robert Kenner's documentary "Food, Inc.," which opens the fest's Culinary Cinema sidebar.
The Berlinale Special is a part of the official program and presents "extraordinary" new productions and topical works by contemporary filmmakers, whose films the fest wants to honor.
Other pics include: "Baiyin Diguo" (Empire of Silver), by Christina Yao, China (world premiere); "Every Little Step," by James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo, U.S.; "Pink," by Rudolph Thome, Germany (world premiere); "Terra Madre," Ermanno Olmi, Italy (world premiere); and "Berlin -- Ecke Bundesplatz," Hans-Georg Ullrich and Detlef Gumm, Germany.
The fest runs Feb. 5-15.
