On its website, Indie 103.1 management stated "Rather than changing the sound, spirit, and soul of what has made Indie 103.1 great, Indie 103.1 will bid farewell to the terrestrial airwaves and take an alternative course. This could only be done on the Internet, a place where rules do not apply and where new music thrives; be it grunge, punk, or alternative, simply put, only the best music."
The station, rarely referred to by its call letters KDLD, was the only English-language station operated by Entravision. Rolling Stone had named it the best station in the U.S. and it was known for its midday show, Jonesy's Jukebox, hosted by Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, which is not migrating to the web version. Jones has had discussions about expanding the two-hour program elsewhere.
Station, which had played alternative rock for six years, had been reducing staff and the number of specialty programs it aired over the past several months.
