Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group has started talking to vidgame publishers to explore the possibility of bringing Webber’s music properties to videogames.
RUG recently took another step into new media with a YouTube channel dedicated to Webber-related content. And music videogames -- including Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and karaoke offerings SongStar and Lips -- have become successful franchises in recent years, appealing to consumers beyond the young-male demo of hardcore gamers.
RUG’s catalog includes Webber tuners “Cats,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Evita” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
