Paul Johnson to join Endemol

Exec to lead company's marketing team

Paul Johnson, former TV division director of the Paris-based Reed Midem, has been tapped as Endemol’s global head of marketing and brand partnerships.

Johnson will oversee Endemol marketing, including branding, communications, event management, brand affiliations and branded content.

He will take up his position in March and be based out of London, reporting to Endemol Group chairman and CEO Ynon Kreiz.

Johnson’s appointment comes as Endemol is seeking to carve out a leading market position, not only as a traditional TV producer, but also in the brand financing of Internet and mobile TV content.

Last month, Endemol and Gallic ad agency Havas inked an alliance to produce Internet and mobile TV formats in Spain, with Havas drawing on its portfolio of clients to finance the content through brand sponsorship.

Ad agencies’ involvement in the international TV business was one of Johnson’s passions at Reed Midem, where he was responsible for the growth of brand partnerships at the Reed Midem-organized Mip TV, Mipdoc, Mip Junior and Mipcom TV markets.

Reed Midem is owned by Variety parent, the Reed Elsevier group.
