Disney picks up Burch, Kidd pitch

Untitled supernatural comedy could be tentpole

Disney has acquired a pitch for a supernatural comedy to be scripted by Ron Burch and David Kidd.

The deal's worth $500,000 against $1 million. Pic doesn't have a star attached or even a title, but it is a template for a big-scale comedy.

Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing.

The writers, last credited with "Yours, Mine and Ours," most recently did production work for Disney on "Beverly Hills Chihuahua." They hatched the story for the pitch with Matt Lopez, who will be executive producer.

Lopez has become a Disney regular with script work on "Bedtime Stories," the upcoming Dwayne Johnson starrer "Race to Witch Mountain" and "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."

Shankman directed and with Gibgot was exec producer of "Bedtime Stories."
