The latest play by Yasmina Reza is helmed by Matthew Warchus (“Boeing-Boeing”), who has directed Reza’s two prior Rialto outings, “Art” (1998) and “Life (x) 3” (2003). Warchus also helmed “God” in London, where the show ran last year in a well-received production that starred Ralph Fiennes and Janet McTeer.
Plot of the comedy centers on two sets of parents who meet to discuss a playground fight between their young children. Christopher Hampton (“Les Liaisons Dangereuses”) translates the script from the original French.
All the thesps have previously had stints on the Rialto, but none have appeared there since the 1990s.
In Gotham, “Carnage” is produced by Robert Fox, David Pugh & Dafydd Rogers, Stuart Thompson, Scott Rudin and the Shubert Org.
Production begins previews Feb. 28 ahead of a March 22 opening.
