E! picks up 'Candy Girls'

Docu-soap showcases Kanye, Jay-Z actresses

E! Entertainment has greenlit a docu-soap that showcases the lives of female actresses in hip-hop videos.

"Candy Girls" will focus on the lives of women seen in the videos of top acts including Kanye West, Jay-Z and Three 6 Mafia.

The Comcast-owned cabler has ordered eight 30-minute episodes of the skein, which will bow March 8 following the third-season premiere of "Keeping up with the Kardashians."

"Candy Girls" is produced by Good Clean Fun (MTV's "Run's House") in association with Coalition Media.

Meanwhile, sibling network Style has also announced the second-season pick-up of dock-series "Ruby."

Series, which tracks the weight-loss travails of real-life Savannah, Ga., resident Ruby Hettinger, ranked as Style's top original series among women 18-49 and total viewers in its frosh campaign.
