The Peterson Foundation, an org founded by Blackstone Group co-founder Peter G. Peterson, bought the movie, helmed by Patrick Creadon, after its preem at Sundance last year. "I.O.U.S.A." was distribbed through Roadside Attractions in the U.S.
The deal between CNN and the Peterson Foundation is unusual for the all-news cabler, which rarely airs theatrically released features. Peter Peterson, a former U.S. Commerce secretary, will be among the commentators in the telecast, along with former U.S. senator Bill Bradley and economist Alice Rivlin.
